Agricultural Data Systems

Technology
rooted in the
land.

We build and service web-based data management solutions for agricultural businesses to help them thrive and grow.

Open Pollinated — agricultural landscape
Our Story

Built from the ground up by people who understand agriculture.

Open Pollinated was founded to improve the technology landscape in the agriculture industry. Farms, seed companies, and related organizations have nuanced record-keeping needs that are limited by off-the-shelf tools, and they deserve something better.

We started with our hands in the dirt, working on small values-driven farms in the Pacific Northwest. We first worked together at Uprising Seeds, a successful regional seed business in Bellingham, WA. When the pandemic sparked a seed-buying frenzy, we set to work developing new systems to handle the surge.

What started as a simple upgrade for a legacy spreadsheet system evolved into a modern, fully-integrated database that helped strealine systems as the business grew rapidly. These advancements increased efficiency, reduced errors, and unlocked functionality and a level of profitability that were previously unobtainable.

Seeing the need in the broader agricultural community, we decided to start a business to share our insights and skills. The values that drew us to working with the land continue to inspire this work. We aim to help agricultural organizations build on their existing operations, cultivating success and resilience in a challenging landscape.

Our Work

Effective systems for agricultural businesses.

From initial database architecture and system integration to ongoing maintenance and updates, we handle the full scope of service so you can focus on running your operation.

Custom Web Database Solutions
We design and build web-based databases from scratch — structured around your specific workflows, data types, and reporting needs. No adapting a generic platform; we design the system to match your exact requirements.
System Integration & Workflow Improvement
We connect your existing platforms and data into one unified system, eliminating redundancies and opening up new possibilities for efficiency and insight.
Ongoing Support & System Growth
Agricultural businesses change with the seasons, the market, and the land. We offer ongoing maintenance, feature development, and strategic guidance to keep your systems working as your operation evolves.

The People

Two builders who understand the land and the technology.

Bre Snodgrass
Bre Snodgrass
Co-Founder & Systems Lead

Bre brings eight years of hands-on agricultural experience across the Pacific Northwest, alongside a background in fast-paced restaurant and food service environments that sharpened her instincts for operational efficiency under pressure. She has a keen eye for how work actually flows through a business — where the bottlenecks are, where data gets lost, and what a better system would need to do to actually solve the problem.

At Open Pollinated, Bre leads discovery and client relationships, serving as the bridge between client and developer. She ensures that what gets built reflects the realities of the problem and that clients feel heard and confident throughout the entire process.

Jesse Wimer
Jesse Wimer
Co-Founder & Development Lead

Jesse is a full-stack developer with over a decade of hands-on experience in organic farming operations and an MS in Horticulture from Washington State University. A farmer turned programmer, he brings a rare combination of field-level intuition and technical depth — he understands the problems he's solving because he's lived them.

He's drawn to work with real operational stakes, where a broken or inefficient system means real money lost, not just a bad user experience. At Open Pollinated, Jesse leads all technical development — from database architecture and back-end logic to the interfaces that farm managers, employees, and wholesale clients rely on every day.

Pricing

Transparent pricing. No surprises.

No two operations are alike, so every project is scoped and priced individually. There are no packages, no guesswork, and no hidden fees. We work through three defined phases, each with a clear purpose and timeline, so you always know exactly where things stand and what comes next.

Phase One
Discovery & Scoping
2 - 3 Weeks
We invest time learning about your operation inside and out. This phase includes a site visit, a comprehensive interview, and full database modeling — resulting in a detailed technical blueprint for your system.
  • On-site visit & workflow observation
  • Requirements gathering interview
  • Full database modeling & architecture
  • Feature list & scope document
  • Fixed-price build proposal
Phase Two
Core Build
6 - 8 Weeks
The main build phase, priced based on the scope document from Phase One. We develop your web application in close collaboration with you — sharing progress regularly, incorporating your feedback, and adjusting as we learn together.
  • Full web application development
  • Database build & data architecture
  • User interface design & implementation
  • Regular check-ins & progress sharing
  • Iterative feedback & adjustments
Phase Three
Polish & Handover
2 - 3 Weeks
We don't just hand over a finished product and walk away. The final phase is dedicated to on-site testing, UI refinement, bug resolution, and training — ensuring your team is fully confident before we officially launch.
  • On-site feature testing & validation
  • UI polish & consistency review
  • Bug fixes & edge-case resolution
  • Team training & onboarding
  • Official product handover
Monthly Retainer After handover, we transition to a monthly retainer that keeps your system healthy and growing. This includes bug fixes, security monitoring and updates, server costs, feature updates, and ongoing Q&A support. Retainer terms are flexible and can be adjusted to fit your circumstances.
